eco-conscious flower shop opening soon!
My name is Jaz and I am the owner of Pictus Goods. Pictus Goods started as an online gift shop and I am so thrilled to announce that it is expanding into a brick and mortar flower and gift shop, in the Junction Triangle in Jan 2020.
I’ve always had an admiration for floral design and growing up I was constantly surrounded by flowers. My Nonna had a huuuge and beautiful garden which is where I spent most of my summer days growing up. After completing the first year of the Fashion Merchandising program at George Brown, I realized that I specifically loved the creative, hands on design aspect of the program, but was not attached to the idea of pursuing a career in the fashion industry.
Then one day, it occurred to me that I could create a life for myself that involved flowers! I enrolled in courses at the Toronto Botanical Gardens and I started making weekly trips to the local flower markets and bringing home (way too many) flowers!
Since then, I have worked at some of Toronto’s best flower shops where I have been able to expand my skills and knowledge in the flower industry and have worked alongside many extremely talented florists.
In terms of my style, I LOVE colour. I just love it. My designs are unstructured, bloom heavy and are designed to replicate flowers growing in a garden. The shop will be an eco- conscious flower shop where there will be no use of floral foam, I will avoid using single use plastics as much as I possibly can and I will only source second hand or handmade vessels for flower arrangements (nothing imported in from China, and less packaging/ waste). I am so excited to start this chapter of my flower journey and to be able to share it with you!
Okay! Thanks for reading!
